Steven studied mathematics at Harvard University.

At New York University Law School he was a member of the Law Review.

He began his career at the law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York.

He is admitted to practice in both California and New York, and has been admitted to practice in both jurisdictions since 1978.

He has been recognized as a Southern California Super Lawyer from 2012-2019.

Steven Goldberg is a litigation partner in the Orange County and Los Angeles offices of the firm.

Steven is well known for his experience in “business divorce” litigation involving intra-corporate disputes, and also has extensive experience in entertainment, real estate, securities, business tort, health care, employment, insurance coverage, and bad faith litigation, as well as copyright and trademark infringement litigation.

In 2019, after a trial lasting more than two months, Steven obtained a judgment of $31 million, comprised of $21 million in compensatory damages and $10 million of punitive damages, on behalf of his client in breach of fiduciary duty and corporate dissolution case in Los Angeles Superior Court. The client was a shareholder in related corporations that owned a group of automobile dealerships in the Los Angeles area. This $31 million judgment is one of the largest awards of the year both in the County of Los Angeles and in the entire State of California.

Steven routinely represents parties in securities arbitrations and banks in loan participation litigation regarding troubled real estate projects. He has represented numerous professional athletes and entertainers in such litigation.

In a related area, Steven has represented individuals and companies in securities fraud litigation and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) investigations.
